A Field in England (2013) (15) + Effects Workshop with Dan Martin & Youth Cinema Foundation

Ben Wheatley’s psychological horror shot in black and white. Jonathan Romney of the Independent called it “Apocalypse Now among the hedgerows”. The Hollywood Reporter called it “A strikingly original historical thriller spiced with occult mysticism and mind warping hallucinogens”
Speaker is Dan Martin, Ben Wheatley’s figurative and makeup effects designer, who talks about how you deliver the special effects for horror and shows audience how to make an exploding head (safely).

Bugsy Malone (1976) (U) + Film Workshop Youth Cinema Foundation & Castaways Theatre Group

the fantastic Alan Parker musical gangster film entirely acted by children, including a very young Jodie Foster. The Castaways Theatre Group from Yeovil will be on hand to ensure that audiences have the most authentic experience.

Youth Cinema Foundation workshops how to make a film with the wonderful Castaways Theatre Group as actors (aimed at children aged 7-13) – places limited to 15 so book early to avoid disappointment. Then we watch the main feature.

Withnail & I (1987) (15) + Talk from Actor Scott Handy

The seminal cult Bruce Robinson film about two unemployed actors finding themselves through a haze of drink and drugs. This is a touching farewell to a lost era (the sixties) and a coming of age comedy about friendship.

Scott Handy, actor, and Head of Drama at Eton College (“the Other Place”) talks about how "Withnail & I” is a peculiarly British film that has shadowed his professional life, from encounters with “I” and “Uncle Monty” to his choice of drama school, and working with the original “Withnail” who inspired writer and director Bruce Robinson. Gin and Cider will be served.
