The Wizard of Oz + dance workshop from Just Dance Wincanton
February 16 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm£4 - £8
The Wizard of Oz is one of the first technicolour movies made (in 1939) by MGM, and is widely considered as being one of “the greatest movies ever” (AFI 100 Years of Film). It might have lost out to Gone With the Wind at the Oscars that year for Best Picture, but The Wizard of Oz has stood the test of time and become part of popular culture in a way that few other films have. Everyone can sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and most people know the significance of “follow the yellow brick road”.
Judy Garland is extraordinary as Dorothy, and stars alongside Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Frank Morgan, Billie Burke and Margaret Hamilton, with Charley Grapewin, Pat Walshe and Clara Blandick, Terry (billed as Toto), and the Singer Midgets as the Munchkins.
We will start with a dance workshop and we are pleased to be working with Emma O’Brien from Wincanton’s Just Dance who has put together a terrific dance workshop for children aged 6-11. Your children will come away with a basic idea of how to dance up the yellow brick road, how to use movement to express a feeling, and most of all how to enjoy moving to music. Please wear loose clothing and come prepared to move…
